HYOJUNG- Her first tough years of life

She was born prematurely and weighed 4.2 kg (about 9 lbs) at birth. During her mother's pregnancy, water had filled Hyolyn's stomach, which led her to become a premature birth. Bile was unable to be passed through her intestines, which eventually damaged her liver, causing a biliary atresia* . Although the required surgery had low chances of sustaining life, Hyolyn was able to survive the 10-hour long surgery.

A year later, however, she was diagnosed with intussusception* (a medical condition where parts of the intestine folds over into another section of the intestine) and received surgery for enterectomy.

*also known as "extrahepatic ductopenia" and "progressive obliterative cholangiopathy" is a congenital or acquired disease of the liver and one of the principal forms of chronic rejection of a transplanted liver allograft.
In the congenital form, the common bile duct between the liver and the small intestine is blocked or absent. The cause of the condition is unknown. The only effective treatments are certain surgeries such as the kasai procedure, or liver transplantation, both of which, have proven effective in only a small number of historical cases.

* An intussusception is a medical condition in which a part of the intestine has invaginated into another section of intestine, similar to the way in which the parts of a collapsible telescope slide into one another.-

She is a fighter since she came into this world, admirable from the cradle, and even though her fans always pray for her health we know that she is a strong girl and won't let anything stop her.
